Clair County, Illinois, United States.
There were deposits of coal in the area, and Harbour was one of a several members of the Illinois Coal Company, along with Zadok Casey, Walter Seates, Malcomb Robinson, Charles Barrett and John Roy.
Casey had held a several offices including United States Representative and Lieutenant Governor of Illinois.
In 1849, the Illinois Coal Company established the town and titled it for Casey. Coal quarrying began, and in 1851 the business constructed a barns to close-by Brooklyn to transport the coal.
According to the 2010 census, Caseyville has a total region of 7.168 square miles (18.57 km2), of which 7.01 square miles (18.16 km2) (or 97.8%) is territory and 0.158 square miles (0.41 km2) (or 2.2%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 4,310 citizens , 1,686 homeholds, and 1,126 families residing in the village.
In the village, the populace was spread out with 23.3% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a homehold in the village was $31,512, and the median income for a family was $36,429.
About 6.8% of families and 9.8% of the populace were below the poverty line, including 15.4% of those under age 18 and 5.6% of those age 65 or over.
