On May 13, 2010, Mayor Joseph Du - Par and the Village Board allowed renaming 127th Street as Obama Drive, with respect to the 44th President of the United States.

On August 21, 2010, State Senator Emil Jones III read a proclamation of the Illinois Senate with respect to the dedication on the same date.

This road became the first Obama Drive in the nation and the first road titled after President Obama in his home state of Illinois.

According to the 2010 census, Calumet Park has a total region of 1.146 square miles (2.97 km2), of which 1.11 square miles (2.87 km2) (or 96.86%) is territory and 0.036 square miles (0.09 km2) (or 3.14%) is water. There were 2,991 homeholds out of which 34.9% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 38.4% were married couples living together, 26.8% had a female homeholder with no husband present, and 28.1% were non-families.
